I am a Professor of Analytics and Decision Sciences at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. I founded and direct the Data Lab for Social Good, and I lead the Uncertainty & the Future theme at DTII, where I work closely with academic, public, and industry partners on questions that matter for society.
My work sits at the intersection of data, uncertainty, and decision-making, with a focus on how advanced analytical methods can support better choices in complex and uncertain futures. Drawing on Data Science, AI, and Operations Research (OR), I develop and apply approaches that are both methodologically rigorous and demonstrably relevant to real-world decision contexts.
So far, my contributions to the field have been recognised with two medals from the OR Society: the Goodeve Medal in 2024, awarded for outstanding contributions to the philosophy, theory, and practice of OR, and the Lyn Thomas Impact Medal in 2025, recognising OR academic research that combines methodological innovation with clear, evidenced real-world impact.
